Holiday Giving Opportunities
The holiday season is a time for sharing and caring. A time when family and friends get together and exchange food, gifts and laughter. Arapahoe House sponsors two very special projects each year to benefit the families and residential clients during the holidays.
Holiday Stockings
Arapahoe House provides individual stockings for the clients in our residential programs. Community members may give a monetary gift to help provide stockings, donate already stuffed stockings, contribute items to include in stockings (hats, gloves, socks, candy/gum, journals/notepads, pens, small games and cards, toiletries, soap, watches, inspiration books and gift cards) or the stockings themselves.
Adopt-a-Family
Imagine how a parent must feel when they cannot give their child a holiday meal, tree or even a gift. Your commitment to sponsor a family from Arapahoe House’s drug and alcohol treatment programs will help give these children a chance to enjoy the holiday that most of us take for granted.
To ensure that the families who are in our care during the holiday season this winter have a brighter holiday, 50 client families from Arapahoe House’s women’s case management and cultural services programs, are “adopted” by other caring families, corporations and individuals. Our families provide a “wish list” along with the ages, gender and sizes of their children. The donor chooses the size of family they would like and return wrapped gifts to us in time for delivery to the family.
Other ways to help
- Host a food drive for the Arapahoe House food bank
- Start a drive to collect hygiene items (soap, toothbrush and paste, cotton balls, wash clothes, shampoo and conditioner, shaving raisers etc.)
- Gather hats, gloves and coats.
Every effort makes a difference!
