Intensive Residential Treatment
Program Overview Adult Intensive Residential Treatment Program provides treatment of substance abuse and mental illness to individuals who are 18 years of age and older. The program is designed to serve individuals who have very serious substance abuse problems, many of whom also have mental illnesses that require 24-hour care. Program Services Clients receive education on: drugs, alcohol, the recovery process, psychiatric diagnosis, psychotropic medications, as well as the importance of compliance with these medications. Additionally, clients participate in groups designed to help manage anger and other feelings without use of substances. Planning for transfer to outpatient treatment begins at the initial contact with the agency. Families are encouraged to participate in education and group therapy. Admission Criteria

Expected Length of Stay This program offers individualized services and flexible lengths of stay ranging from one to four weeks. Results Achieved An evaluation of the effectiveness of the Adult Residential Services program is underway. This evaluation includes objective measures of substance use, child custody, employment, mental health and primary health problems. A sample of clients is interviewed at admission and at six months following discharge to determine improvement in these variables.
