Cultural Services
Program Overview Arapahoe House cultural services department operates four outpatient clinics providing substance abuse and mental health treatment to monolingual Spanish-speaking client in metropolitan Denver. Services are adapted to meet the needs of the individual client. Services include individual, group, and family therapy, case management services, English as a second language classes, housing services and DUI education and therapy. Hispanic/Latino men and women experience many barriers to treatment for substance abuse, including lack of understanding the English language. Spanish is the most widely spoken second language in the United States. The Hispanic population has grown by 42% between 1990 and 2000 in the state of Colorado. The Cultural Service team provides assistance with a variety of concerns with the goal of improving the recovery and overall health and well-being of the Spanish speaking clientele.
