Intensity Treatment Team
Program Overview Arapahoe House has a contract with the Mental Health Center of Denver to provide intensive treatment and case management services to approximately 100 individuals experiencing serious mental illness. The High Intensity Treatment Team (HITT) consists of eight case managers who work in pairs, one nurse case manager, one clinical nurse, a case manager assistant, a psychiatrist, support staff, and a team leader. Program Services The case management services provided by this program include referral and linkage to services such as medical and dental care, substance abuse treatment, housing, emergency psychiatric care, and detoxification. The team provides direct services including: individual, group, and family therapy, psychiatric evaluation, administration of psychotropic medications, acting as representative payees for social security income, teaching and monitoring daily living activities, vocational services, and crisis management. Admission Criteria All clients must be referred through the Mental Health Center of Denver. People Most Able to Benefit from this Program Individuals who are suffering from severe and persistent mental illness, who require a significant amount of support and treatment in order to be able to live safely in the community. All of these individuals also abuse drugs or alcohol. Length of Stay Clients are expected to receive services from the team until they require a lower level of treatment intensity. They are discharged only if they move out of county, or at the client's request or per goebel requirements. Program Demographics
Results Achieved The majority of the individuals served by this team will be seriously disabled by their mental illness for the remainder of their lives. The overall goal is to provide a high level of services in order to enable these individuals to live outside institutions.
