Program Overview

Recognizing the importance of safe and drug-free housing and employment in ensuring recovery from substance abuse, Arapahoe House, Inc. provides assistance with housing and employment.

Program Services

The Section 8 Choice Voucher program is collaboration between Arapahoe House, Inc. and the Colorado Division of Housing, we provide 71 tenant-based rental assistance choice vouchers that subsidize rent payments for families and individuals. Section 8 Homeownership program allows family, who are receiving HUD section 8 rental assistant vouchers, to utilize their voucher to assist with mortgage payments on a new home.

The Family Transitional Housing Program program provides rental assistance for 18 families, who can be housed from 6 month to 24 months depending on individual needs while receiving intensive case management services from agency staff.

The Emergency Shelter Grant allows our clinical case managers to help homeless families and individuals find shelter, transitional and permanent housing, employment, food, clothing and provide assistance with benefit acquisition.

The Willow Street, Lara Lee and Presidential Arms apartments provide permanent housing units to low to moderate income families/individuals that are willing to participate in our case management program. This program provides related supportive services that engender a safe environment and teach community skills.

Employment services include job search assistance, resume assistance, software training, basic computer skills training, job coaching, and assistance with interviewing skills. Job fairs are organized to assist clients in finding potential employment this program is only offered housing clients who are activity participating in our programs. 

Admission Criteria

  • Low income clients who qualify under the HUD definition of homelessness and have a diagnosed Substance disorder. Family Transitional Housing program is restricted to families with dependent children that are in their custody.

People Most Able to Benefit from this Program

  • Homeless individuals or families with a history of substance disorders; and qualify under the low income federal guidelines

Expected Length of Stay

Each program varies based on individual needs and grant guidelines.
