David G. Murphy, MA

CEO

David received his master degree in rehabilitation counseling in 1968 from the University of Northern Colorado.  Prior to being named CEO of Arapahoe House, he was the director of operations for Arapahoe House and also served as the deputy director for the Recovery Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded to assist Arapahoe House with fundraising and public relations. He is also president of the Community Housing Development Association.  David has over 20 years of experience in developing, coordinating, and administering nonprofit organizations.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Arthur Schut, MA
Deputy Director & COO
Arthur Schut has held his current position as deputy director & COO of Arapahoe House since 2008. Prior to this, he served as president & CEO of Mid-Eastern Council on Chemical Abuse (MECCA) of Iowa for 25 years. He also held a faculty appointment to the Graduate Program in Substance Abuse Counseling at the University of Iowa for over two decades. He was co-principal investigator of an Addiction Technology Transfer Center, and co-project director of a Practice Improvement Collaborative.  Art has been involved in the delivery of alcohol and drug treatment and prevention services in Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, New York and California.  During this time he has served as executive and clinical director in several comprehensive community-based programs.

 

Art served on the executive committee and as president of State Associations of Addictions Services (SAAS); he continues involvement as a past president.  He has served on numerous public policy boards, clinical task forces and work groups, and expert panels. He has been involved with a variety of substance-use disorder evidence based practice, quality, and process improvement efforts. He was the recipient of the State Associations of Addiction Services National Excellence in Leadership Award in 2007.

 

 

Aleah Horstman, Ph.D.

Director of Development

Aleah has been with Arapahoe House since December 2008.  She has been in the nonprofit sector for more than 17 years and previously worked with Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, Metro State College in Denver, Girls Count, and Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity.  In 2006, Aleah received her Ph.D. from the University of Colorado’s School of Public Affairs. She is a past president of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Colorado Chapter and a Leadership Denver Class of 2011 graduate.

 

 

 

Denn Dickey, MBA

CFO

Denn Dickey was recently named chief financial officer. Denn brings 26 years of financial expertise and more than 11 years as a non-profit healthcare financial executive to Arapahoe House. He has extensive experience managing change in financial disciplines from treasury to internal control. His specialties include: process Improvement/automation, strategy, planning, budgeting, forecasting, analysis, pricing, accounting, control, financing, cash management, grant management and reporting, and Medicare risk adjustment. Denn received his MBA in finance at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and his bachelor’s degree in economics from Princeton University. He is also a board member at Second Wind Fund, Inc.
